About El Ouatia
25 km from the town on the road to Laayoune. There, it is a sanctuary of sharks erected on their fins which will welcome the traveler. The tourist program envisaged for the Moroccan south plans to make this port a seaside resort. Opened in 1982 after five years of work, the main sardine port in the south, one of its activities is fish processing: canning, freezing, shipping and processing units provide jobs to nearly 4,000 people. Often tourists prefer El Ouatia rather than Tan Tan city as a stopover on the southern route. Despite the services it offers, its hotel capacity is minimal while the arrival of fishing boats ensures a sought after animation. On the nearby beaches, encouraging relaxation, the ocean rollers are a real invitation for surfers.
