The Casablanca-Settat region, located in the centre-west of the country, is the most populated region, with 6,861,739 inhabitants in 2014, the 20% of the country's population, and a surface area of 1,615 square kilometres. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, the Marrakech-Safi region to the south and Beni Mellal-Khénifra to the east.

Known as a mega-region because of its economic importance, the Casablanca-Settat region has ports, airports, rail and road infrastructure to facilitate the movement of goods and people.

The port of Casablanca accounts for no less than 40% of foreign trade and its Mohammed V airport has 40% of the country’s aircraft movements.

It replaced the former region of Grand Casablanca by incorporating the provinces of El Jadida and Sidi Bennour from the former region of Doukkala-Abda as well as the provinces of Settat, Benslimane and Berrechid from the former region of Chaouia-Ouardigha.
