The town of Mohammedia is located on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, 24 km northeast of the economic capital of the kingdom with a population of 322 500 inhabitants.
Known for its beautiful beaches with shiny golden sand, it enjoys a Mediterranean climate characterized by mild, damp winters and warm, dry summers on its beautiful sandy beaches. Its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean tends to refresh the city in summer and to warm it in winter. It benefits from the sun throughout the year. Its beaches are frequented throughout the year by the local inhabitants and also from abroad.
Mohammedia is also known for its festivities throughout the year, such as the International Festival of Mohammedia which aims to bring together the inhabitants of the city around a unifying project that highlights the potential of the city to liven up its streets, promote its beaches and enhance its assets. During the festival of flowers, the council of the city consents an important investment such as the International Short Film Festival of Mohammedia.
It brings together every year professionals, filmmakers, actors, producers and critics, from different countries to celebrate the short film industry. It also remains the industrial city of the Kingdom as many big companies have chosen to operate in Mohammedia (mostly production units).
The city of Mohammedia thus acquired over the years a true industrial vocation. It houses the main refinery of Morocco, the Samir. The suburbs also house the largest thermal power station in the country.
